This book focuses on the cultural and political conditions of Columbia in relationship with their most notorious poet in its history. The relationship between Jose Asuncion Silva, the cultural institutions and the social and political environment at the end of the nineteenth century in Bogota is the main interest of this book. The poetic works of Silva are analyzed.
